Why Republishing Your Content Can Be Useful

AddThis Social Bookmark Button

Writing and promoting unique content on your own blog is great but there are times when you can leverage more authoritative sites within your vertical by republishing the same content to in order get an even higher lift the second time. Web Analytics World gets re-syndicated at sites such as Web Pro News/Search Newz and additionally I blog for Search Engine Guide, both of these options allow me to further leverage my strategic content at these prominent websites. Below are a few benefits of republishing content:
  • Increases Exposure of your content
  • Helps build your reputation as an author and thought leader
  • Generates back links to your original content
  • Allows more feedback on your content
Duplicating too much content is not a good thing either so make sure you keep a close eye on how much of your content is published at other websites. Additionally, you have to remember that if you republish content at more authoritative sites you will essentially be competing against those other sites for content-specific keywords in the search engines. What worked well for me was to build up my own blog's reputation before beginning to redistribute content elsewhere. Also remember to link back to your original post from time to time to let the search engines know who the original author was.

This blog has thousands of visitors/subscribers a month but a well known news portal such as Search Engine Guide can still offer better performance for some of my most strategic content. I can provide examples of 4 different occasions where I wrote an article here at Web Analytics World and then re-published the same article at Search Engine Guide and noticed quite a significant increase in buzz on the Search Engine Guide blog. The metric I am using to measure this is the number of Sphinns. The same articles on my personal blog didn't generate any Sphinns where as on Search Engine Guide, 3 out of 4 posts made it to the front page of Sphinn
